Sassy, Amazon Reader, 5 Star Review
An allegory is a story where the events, objects, or characters have a hidden or symbolic meaning. An allegory is a story with multiple meanings. Heartlight is full of word pictures and play on words. It is full of double meaning. Every reader will read it a little differently. For some it is a life story and others it is a love story. It depends on their life story.
HeartLight came to be by accident. The author was writing another book. HeartLIght was the play space for motivation. She accidentally sent the wrong copy to her editor. And the rest is history. Every person who helped bring HeartLight to life was following their own heart light. The author designed the layout of every page.
Shortly after HeartLight was published it was ever so honored to be the recipient of the Heart & Soul Book Award . It was named a placed winner in the category of Poetry. The award was by Holl & Lane Magazine and One Idea Press. HeartLight was featured alongside the other literary category winners in the Hall & Lane Magazine in 2017.

I knew from the beginning that the illustrations had to be special. But I couldn't find special. The illustrations needed to be like the words, visual word pictures. My mom was a talented hobby artist. Her heart light was anything art. She jumped at the opportunity to help her daughter out. At that point in her life she had just lost her brother, her sister, and her parents. She was full of deep emotion and welcomed the therapeutic release of creative expression. It has always been her calling guide and a desire to make a career of art. When she saw her name on the cover of the book, it healed something in her that had been once broken.
Kathy created each drawing by hand, then replicated each one into a reverse image using a light box. It was a fun journey together talking through the symbolism of each page and then seeing the theme come to life. Heartlight would not be as enchanting without the illustrations. She captured the magic beautifully.
My beautiful mother passed away June 22, 2023. HeartLight was published in 2017. She was able to attend a few events, even helped co-host a book club. It will forever tug my heart as our special mother / daughter project.
HeartLight is dedicated to her memory.
